Kentucky Monthly’s vice president of sales and marketing, Kendall Shelton, has been named to the board of the International Regional Magazine Association (IRMA), a group founded in 1960 and representing 37 publications in the United States and Canada.
Shelton, a Frankfort native, has a nearly 14-year tenure with Kentucky Monthly and has led the magazine’s steady growth in paid circulation. She also is responsible for the company’s retail product line launch and implementation of its smartphone app, Travel Kentucky.
“It’s wonderful that Kendall’s hard work at Kentucky Monthly has garnered national attention, as reflected in her selection to the board of IRMA,” said Stephen M. Vest, publisher and editor-in-chief of the 15-year-old publication. “Kendall is the first Kentuckian to serve in this capacity. I’m confident her expertise, which has resulted in an astonishing growth in paid circulation for our magazine—an increase of more than 46% during the past three years—will greatly benefit our regional magazine colleagues.”
Statewide publications represented in IRMA include: Arizona Highways, Arkansas Life, Colorado Life, Down East (Maine), The Iowan, Kansas!, Louisiana Life, Mississippi Magazine, Missouri Life, Nebraska Life, Nevada Magazine, New Mexico Magazine, Oklahoma Today and Vermont Magazine.
