I just wanted to email you personally and say that Amanda Hervey is a very talented writer and I believe a huge asset to your magazine. Her ‘P’ story roped me in to read the whole thing vigorously. I even quoted a peice of the story as my facebook status update. Her writing is truly remarkable. Thank you very much for having such a fresh and qualified staff at Kentucky Monthly.

I just read the article in the August 2011 issue about Uno and Dennis Trent!! It brought tears to my eyes and touched myself and the others that I shared it with!! Dennis is our uncle and the brother that he talked about was/is my father in law!! It is still a fresh wound that we mend daily, I can only imagine how Dennis feels being that he was the one with him!! I just wanted to tell Amanda that it was a WONDERFUL article and was very well written!! I am amazed at how God put us with the people we need to help us understand our own lives and problems!! God Bless you Amanda, and I am so glad that you were able to spend some time with Dennis Trent, he is an AMAZING person and we are so blessed to be family to him!

What a talented writer and what great insight!! Ms. Hervey’s feature is what I look at first each month. Alas, there are only 26 letters in the alphabet. What will she do next? I hope something with numbers as they go on to infinity. Keep up with the superb work!!

As Amanda’s mom, most people think that I am bias of her work, maybe somewhat, however, this talent for pulling you into her stories goes back to a very young age when she would write in journals, write stories about our neighborhood and amuse us with adventurous tells. Reading her stories you find out she is caring, compassionate and has a zest for life and those around her become addicted to her personality. She is young at heart, but she is (as my Grandmother said) an old soul. She finds the beauty in not just the simplicity of things but in the ordinary things as well, things that are too often forgotten. I am proud of who she is, what she accomplished in this series and for the faith and belief she had in every story she told along this path. She made friends and memories that she will cherish forever. I can’t wait to see what her next adventure is ! Job well done.
