As a partner in life and business, chef/owner Rhona Kamar collaborates with husband Ramsi in all aspects of their Louisville restaurant, Ramsi’s Café on the World, and Raising Hope Organic Farm. Our November 2014 issue features Rhona’s recipes (including Moroccan turkey and brown rice soup, and curried sweet potato hash) for transforming Thanksgiving leftovers into dishes with international flair.
From a young age, Rhona loved to cook with her grandmother using ingredients from the family’s farm in Greensburg, Kentucky. This connection with food and the land carries through to her work developing menus at Ramsi’s Café. With her and her husband’s travels around the world as inspiration, Rhona provides worldly flavors, as well as organic produce from the farm, to customers of the Highlands neighborhood restaurant.
Her passion for clean eating lead to the creation of her chef’s blog, HopeFarmTestKitchen.com, where she shares techniques and insight into restaurant cooking with farm fresh produce. The blog, which is part of Martha’s Circle - a collection of blogs handpicked to be featured on MarthaStewart.com, works to give readers confidence in the kitchen to explore and create using highly nutritious ingredients.
Kamar has a degree in Journalism from the University of Kentucky and graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. She and Ramsi have three children and a menagerie of farm animals.
