Wreath Making Workshop
Wreath Making Workshop at Shelby Co Extension Office
Get into the holiday spirit and put your DIY skills to work by making a festive wreath from fresh greenery grown right here in Shelby County. Give it that Colonial Williamsburg look by using several different types of greenery, pinecones, magnolia leaves, and maybe even a little mistletoe! This workshop is sponsored by the Shelby County Historical Society.
You don’t need to be an expert – this workshop held on Saturday, December 21st from 1 – 3 pm is great for beginners or even the more advanced crafter. When finished, you’ll have something handmade and you’ll have had a great time making the wreath. You might even be inspired to go home and create centerpieces and garlands to deck the halls for the holidays. Such wreaths hearken to the 18th century and can be found on a grand level at Williamsburg, where you won’t find any twinkling strings of lights or tinsel. A simple wreath can make a profound statement on your front door, barn door or fence post – wherever you choose to hang it.
Even though decorating in the 18th century may have been minimal in most homes, nothing is so understated as fresh, fragrant greenery. Bring the outside in and be inspired by what can be found in nature. Celebrate the season by grabbing a friend and registering today for this hands-on, DIY workshop. We provide everything you need to form and embellish a wreath - fresh greenery, pinecones, wire wreaths, wire, wire cutters, berry sprigs, and ribbon. You supply the creativity!
