The Asbury University student team arrived in Sochi earlier this week and soon will be sharing the uniquely Kentucky Olympics stories they're discovering. But first, get to know our "Stories from Sochi" team:
Aaron Brenneman
Aaron lives in The Woodlands, Texas. He is a junior at Asbury University and is double majoring in production and audio production in The School of Communication Arts. Aaron has had experience creating videos and running live audio/video equipment for large productions such as Churches, and the largest Christian Teen Conference in Europe, TeenStreet Germany.
He is currently contracted at a performing arts center in Colorado as a part time crew member. He is one of the editors and audio engineers of the Asbury University team in Sochi.
Cassandra Gerhardstein
Cassie is a junior at Asbury University and is double majoring in communications and journalism and digital storytelling. This will be Cassie’s second internship at the Olympics and she is a senior features writer for The Asbury Collegian. As a Cincinnati native, she grew up on Graeter’s ice cream, and Skyline Chili. In her spare time Cassie enjoys Sudoku puzzles, black licorice and Grey’s Anatomy.
Karis Rogerson
Karis is a junior at Asbury University, double majoring in journalism and digital storytelling and creative writing. Her passion for international travel stems from her childhood in Italy and her high school years in Germany. She works as a news editor for The Asbury Collegian, the school newspaper, and in addition to writing for that she also runs a blog, karisrogerson.wordpress.com. Russia will be the 21st country she has visited, and she is very excited to report on the Olympics, as well as whatever new experiences she may encounter.
Meredith Schellin
Meredith is a Greenwood, Ind. native studying journalism and digital storytelling at Asbury University. Currently she is the news editor for The Asbury Collegian. In her spare time, Meredith enjoys reading fashion blogs, taking pictures of her friends, and watching way too much Netflix. Ashley Walls
Ashley is a junior studying journalism and digital storytelling at Asbury University and is currently the Sports Editor for Asbury’s weekly newspaper. As a Charlestown, Ind. native, Ashley grew up cheering for IU basketball and loves reading good books when she isn’t writing in her spare time. Madison Wathen
Madison is from Owensboro and therefore has a very real appreciation for barbecue and bluegrass. She is a third year student double majoring in media communication & journalism and digital storytelling. Madison currently works as the senior layout editor for The Asbury Collegian and the photo editor of The Asburian.
